Naked Faith is an alternative worship experience aimed at youth and young adults but open to all. December’s Naked Faith is a SPECIAL EVENT completely planned and led by REGIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL, a leadership group of senior high youth. Naked Faith takes place on Friday, December 15th @ Red Deer Lake United Church. Naked Faith begins with dinner @ 6 pm, service @ 7 pm, and then youth grades 6-12 are invited to stay for programming until 10:30 pm. Young adults head to a nearby pub to engage in conversation.

Naked Faith’s theme in December “How the Youth Stole Christmas”. Regional Youth Council will be exploring different themes pulled from the classic Grinch movie and how they relate to our lives today, including materialism, isolation, and forgiveness. It promises to be a wonderful evening of community.

Dirty Theology is a Young Adult worship series that happens the third Sunday evening of each month. It is aimed at young adults from 18 years (who have graduated high school) and onwards. It runs from 6:30 to 8 pm and includes worship and facilitated conversation. Dirty Theology is put on in partnership with Campus Ministry.

About

Church as it is today does not resonate with a large number of youth or young adults. Traditional methods of worship do not always hook new, younger members in the same way as they did in the past.

We believe faith still has significance with the younger generation. Naked Faith is an alternative worship experience that draws inspiration from events such as YC Alberta and infuses it with theology of the United Church. Dreamt up and founded by members of this younger generation as well as including involvement by numerous youth and young adults, it is an event that truly lives and breathes youth. Featuring energetic popular music, powerful messages, deep conversation and a free meal, this is something you don’t want to miss.

Naked Faith happens the third Friday of every month at different United Churches around Calgary. It begins with dinner, followed by an hour-long service. Afterwards, youth from grades 6 through 12 are invited to stay for games and activities until 10:30. Young adults are invited to head to a nearby pub to engage in further discussion about the theme, or to simply enjoy the community. Naked Faith is facilitated and made possible by Regional Youth and Young Adult Ministries, funded by St. Andrew’s United Church in Calgary.

All are welcome at Naked Faith – we look forward to seeing you.

Meet the Team

Andrew Nicholson

Josh and Andrew have been playing music together since Josh was in grade 7, and it continues to bond them.
