I seem to have chosen a poor weekend for canoeing. The proposed trip for July 15 is postponed indefinitely.
The following Saturdays are days for which I am open to hiking or canoeing or cycling upon request: July 8, 15, 22; August 12, 19, 26. If there is interest in doing one of these on a weekday before July 22 or after August 7, I have lots of flexibility in my time to do that as well.
Glenmore Reservoir, Kananaskis Lakes, Crawling Valley Reservoir, Severn Creek Reservoir are some choices for day trips for canoeing, and there are probably others I have forgot or do not know about. Chestermere used to have too many power boats for good canoeing and Eagle Lake is too exposed to winds for me.
Ribbon Creek in the Kananaskis has many trails that are good for both mountain biking and hiking and is close enough for day trips for mountain biking. The loop around Glenmore and Fish Creek Park are close for short mountain bike trips and for walking or hiking. Beaver Dam Park is an interesting place for either hiking or biking. I rode my bike to work on Wednesday and learned that trips of under 20 km are good workouts for me.
I should have time in August for a longer canoe trip of 2 or 3 days if there is enough interest.
If you are interested in any of these options or other ones, please contact me. If you would like to be on a contact group for short notices for any of these kinds of excursions, please let me know and I will notify you if anyone else has requested an excursion for hiking, biking or canoeing. Email Jim.
I wish everyone a rewarding and renewing summer.
