Dear Community of Faith Members,
The re-opening committee continues to review the current COVID-19 situation and the growing impact of the omicron variant in the province. As per AHS and Government updates, the omicron variant is spreading rapidly amongst all age groups and all vaccination levels. Limiting interaction is an important barrier in protecting staff, congregants and vulnerable populations through the peak of this fifth wave.
Out of an abundance of caution and with careful review, the decision to implement additional temporary measures was made as noted below:
• Worship will be offered online weekly. Only one lead singer will be permitted in the sanctuary appropriately distanced from the ministers and accompanist.
• If visiting the church offices, please wear a non-medical surgical style mask or better (e.g. N95/KN95 without an exhalation valve). They are preferred and more protective than cloth masks.
• The celebration of sacraments of baptism and communion are postponed until further notice
• All internal and external user groups are not permitted to use the Deerpoint or Southport locations with the exception of food security (Calgary Food Back Depot & Food Pantry) and AA Support Groups.
The unpredictability of the pandemic continues to be a challenge for all of us. We will remain diligent in our protocols and ongoing assessment of current conditions, government regulations and industry best practice. The re-opening committee asks that we all do our best to follow the requirements and assist in keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible.
The committee will meet again on January 31 to determine how to proceed with worship and facility restrictions.
The Re-Opening Committee
