Below is the thanksgiving letter that was distributed to members of St. Andrew’s United Church at the beginning of this month. I want to acknowledge all those who responded to this letter graciously. We are abundantly blessed to be part of the community of faith here at St. Andrew’s and for the ministry that we are able to provide to so many individuals and families. Over the course of the last 4 months the one thing I know for sure is that members of this community of faith have big hearts and are always giving of their time, talents, energy and gifts for the ministry and mission of Christ. We are so lucky to have such generous givers so we can continue such vibrant ministries. Thank you for your all your gifts, your weekly offerings via PAR or envelopes and for those who made a special Thanksgiving offering.

With a grateful heart and thanks,

St. Andrew’s United Church,

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year to count the many blessings in our lives and to offer our thanks to God for the beauty of creation, bounty of harvest, for the family we love, and the friends we cherish. We gather around table at Thanksgiving and acknowledge the many things we often take for granted throughout the year. This year, I am particularly grateful for the gift of God’s call to serve you, the people of St. Andrew’s United Church and for your willingness to accept the call.

Over the course of the last three months I have seen and experienced your gracious hospitality, your deep faith, your willingness to be faithful disciples and for continuing to live into the mission of St. Andrew’s United Church. I see the love and work of God as I witness folks making sandwiches for Drop-In Centre Calgary, as I sit around table and listen to individuals ‘why stories’, as I hear the voices of children, youth and Spirit Singers. I know God is alive when I listen to the staff share their passions around ministry and the excitement for programs to unfold.

I am deeply thankful for you and your commitment in supporting Christ’s work through our church. You make a huge difference, and it is an incredible privilege to be in ministry with you. With your help, we have been making a real difference in people’s lives! We know this work is not complete and God is calling us to continue to find ways to offer the best of what we have been given in every way.

Would you support us once again in a special Thanksgiving offering? An envelope is included for your gift of $50, $100, or any amount you wish to give. This Thanksgiving gift will help to eliminate this year’s deficit so that together we can continue to serve our community.

May we give thanks for the many blessings we have in our lives, one being our supportive and faith filled congregation and community of faith at St. Andrew’s Untied Church.

Peace, love and Thanksgiving blessings,
Rev. Hillary MacDonald
