The boxes are unpacked, the books are on the shelf, and I am beginning to settle in as the new Coordinating Team Minister here at St. Andrews. Kevin and I were both overwhelmed by the welcome, love and warmth we received our first Sunday and throughout the first 2 weeks- thank you. My first week was filled with lots of gatherings, opportunities to meet with individuals, staff, and committees and to hear the heart of our community of faith. I heard passion, excitement, fear; stories of the past and vision for the future. I realize this is just the beginning and I look forward to lots more listening, sharing, dreaming and doing. I look forward to continuing to explore how we are going to BE the church and what that may look like in our changing world.
Summer is often a time where folks pause, where the regular weekly activities stop, folks head to cabins or campgrounds, and where we give ourselves permission to rest; this is something we often don’t give ourselves during the rest of the year. May your time of rest be rejuvenating, spirit-filled, and may you experience the wonder and awe of God in your days.
I am not taking holidays until the end of August/beginning of September, so look forward to preparing for the fall, taking in the life of Calgary (beginning with the Calgary Stampede!) and meeting those who are resting close to home. Please feel free to stop by the office and introduce yourself, or give me a call and I’d be more than happy to come to you.
As we move forward, let us continue to seek, share, serve, and care together.
Peace and blessings
