Risking Faith. Daring Hope.
This is the theme for the 43rd General Council of The United Church of Canada. Over the course of July 21-27, 2018 hundreds of folks from The United Church are gathering together in Oshawa Ontario to
worship, pray, discern, discuss and make decisions for the church. General Council is the church’s highest legislative court. Every three years, ministers and lay commissioners who have been elected by the Conferences meet to set church policy and choose a new Moderator. This year the General Council will vote on one of the most importantdecisions around re-structuring of the church model from the current 4-teir court system.
As someone who has attended the previous 4 General Councils I know the importance of this week, and the work that will be done. I encourage you to check out the General Council website: https://generalcouncil43.ca to follow along, to join in conversation or to live-stream aspects of the week. Stay connected and follow the action on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram
We hold in our thoughts and prayers the Moderator Rt. Rev. Jordan Cantwell, General Secretary Nora Sanders, all the commissioners, delegates, youth at council, leaders, staff, and all involved in making General Council happen.
